Walk to the back of the La Jolla Library any Thursday between noon and one o’clock and you will find a group of people writing feverishly, reading aloud to each other and – sometimes – laughing uproariously.
The members of this group are devotees of Pen To Paper, a drop-in writing workshop led by Diane Malloy of San Diego Writers, Ink. I have been a Pen To Paper regular since January 2012.
At the start of each session, Diane gives the group a “prompt” – sometimes a picture, at other times a sentence or situation – and a time limit (usually 15 or 20 minutes). We write whatever comes to mind as a result of the prompt, and then we share our stories with the group.
And now I’m sharing some of them with you.
What a lovely group!
